Jono Meko skersvėjis jungiasi prie gatvių šviesos meno galerijos „ARTerija“, kurią kuruoja asociacija „Miesto kvartalas“. Tai – fluxiška, lietuviškų šaknų turinčio olandų menininko Sije Verskio instaliacija „World Goes Bananas“ – garsaus menininko Maurizio Cattelano kūrinio „Comedian“ replika. „World goes bananas“ – tai angliškas posakis, reiškiantis „pasaulis išsikraustė iš proto“. Ir kur geriau ji tiktų, jei ne Meko skersgatvyje?
Sije Verskis gimė 1977 metais Nyderlanduose. Baigė Anglijos Arnhemo dailės ir dizaino akademiją. Gyvena ir dirba Roterdame. Instaliacijas ir objektus kurti pradėjo 2005 metais, jo darbai buvo fotografuojami visoje Olandijoje. Menininkas teigia, kad menas turi kelti abejonių ir gluminti, o ne globoti ir varžyti. Priešingai nei dabartinė mada, jis sako nenorįs stebėtojams diktuoti kelio į meno supratimą, tą kelią jis tik rodo.

Jonas Mekas' draught joins the street light art gallery ARTerija, curated by the association Miesto kvartalas. This is the fluxical installation "World Goes Bananas" by the Dutch artist Sije Verskis, who has Lithuanian roots, a replica of the famous artist Maurizio Cattelan's work "Comedian". "World goes bananas" is an English expression meaning "the world has gone mad". And where better to put it than on Mekas Street?
Sije Versky was born in 1977 in the Netherlands. He graduated from the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design in England. He lives and works in Rotterdam. He started making installations and objects in 2005 and his work has been photographed all over the Netherlands. The artist argues that art should question and perplex rather than patronise and constrain. Contrary to current fashion, he says he does not want to dictate to observers the way to understand art, he only shows the way.
